The lesson
Warm-up — dress for today
5 min- Look out of the window. Choose clothes for today from the pictures.
- Ask what you would change if it were snowing.
Teach — weather decides more than clothes
13 min- Match snow to boots and coats. Easy.
- Then ask what else snow changes: the buses, the school, the games.
- Do rain and heat the same way, taking one non-clothing answer each.
- Say the difference between weather today and climate always.
- Name a place where hot is normal and ask what houses are like there.

Guided practice — match and extend
12 min- Pairs match four kinds of weather to what people do.
- For each they add one thing beyond clothing.
- They name a place where one of them is normal.

8 min- Students complete the weather page.
- Read each kind of weather aloud.

What goes wrong, and why
Each of these is a reasoning error rather than carelessness. The fix addresses the reasoning.
Only names clothes.
Why: Clothing is the most immediate effect.
Fix: Require one non-clothing answer each time. Transport and buildings are where the geography is.
Confuses weather with climate.
Why: Both are about hot and cold.
Fix: Weather is today, climate is what is usual. Say it once and use both words correctly after.
Thinks everywhere has the same weather as here.
Why: Here is all they have experienced.
Fix: Name a place where it never snows. One counterexample is enough at this age.
