K-5 social studies — common questions

What social studies does this site cover?

Kindergarten through Grade 5, across asking questions, civics, economics, geography, history, weighing sources, and taking informed action. That is 126 printable worksheets and 126 lesson plans, every one tied to a specific Common Core standard rather than to a topic name.

How many Common Core social studies standards are covered?

135 — the full K-5 set for social studies. Each one is listed on the standards page with the published wording, a plain-language restatement, the worksheets that practise it and the lesson plan written for it.

Are the social studies worksheets and lesson plans free?

Yes, all 252 of them. There is no account, no email capture before a download and no printable that turns out to need a subscription at the last step. Print and photocopy them for your own class.

What is the difference between a lesson plan and a worksheet here?

A lesson plan is how to teach the standard: timed sections, the exact wording to use where the wording carries the claim, the misconceptions to expect, and an exit ticket. A worksheet is the practice that follows it, with an answer key and 25 versions.

Which grades have social studies material?

All 2: Kindergarten through Grade 5, ages 5 to 11. Each grade has its own hub listing that grade's sheets grouped by the Common Core domain and standard they practise, so a sheet can be found by code as well as by topic.

Can I print a different social studies worksheet for every pupil?

Yes. Every sheet is published in 25 versions, one per pupil, and set 1 offers all 25 as a single PDF — one download, 25 different papers plus their answer keys, ready for the photocopier.
