Warm-up
5 min- Read the ant record: one ant moved a crumb 2 cm, six moved it 18 cm.
- Ask what the six did that one could not.
Teach — claim, evidence, cost
14 min- Write the claim: forming a group helps these ants survive.
- Give the evidence: 2 cm alone against 18 cm together, same crumb.
- Ask what made that a fair comparison. The same crumb.
- Do meerkats: one on lookout lets the others feed.
- Now the honest half: name a cost. Food has to be shared.
- Say what a good argument here has: a claim, evidence, and the cost admitted.

19 min- Groups watch an ant trail or a clip and count what individuals and groups achieve.
- They record a comparison of one against several.
- They write a claim with the evidence under it.

Why: It seems obvious.
Fix: Point at the frame. 2 cm against 18 cm is what makes it an argument.
Compares a group to nothing.
Why: The group achieved a lot.
Fix: Compared with what? You need the single animal too.
